New WarRoom Slideshow

Just build a war-room slideshow viewer for Horizon Dispatch - VERY Cool utility!

You set up the interval, the Dispatcher's initials who uses it and the Dispatch screen sets that are processed and then just bring up the Dispatch screen and watch it change!

For those customers who want to set up a regular presentation of their information for a Board or single screen, this is the way to go!

What's required to make this really useful is Dispatcher Screen Sets that highlight information for a company.

If they only want one screen to refresh, all they need to do is put in a single Dispatch Screen Set name into the properties dialog!

Neat Feature in Access Anywhere

In case you didn't know - when you are in an Access Anywhere session with a user, you can transfer files by clicking on the Access Anywhere menu and selecting File Transfer.

Works great!

(note: Access Anywhere is the Remote Access piece of WebEx that allows us to connect into user's computers without having to set up a session in WebEx itself. Some of the customers who have this setup: Bunch, PDQ, Accurate)

Understanding WebEx Licensing

Recently some of you have asked how many users can be using WebEx at a time. Let me explain it here.

We have 4 Seats. Each attendee (including the presenter) takes a seat.

That means that we can have any of these possible variations before we start incurring additional charges:

2 2-person meetings. Examples: two support sessions with a single customer in each one. So Susan and Accurate and Dale with Bunch.

1 4-person meeting. Example: Sales or training presentation where multiple people are viewing one presenter.

1 3-person meeting. Example: Troubleshooting a problem that needs to involve the customer, a support person and a dev.

4 1-person meetings. Not sure why you might want to do this UNLESS you were preparing for meetings or recording other sessions.

1 2 person meeting and a Access Anywhere session. An Access Anywhere session takes up 2 seats as it involves two computers.

Maybe this is the best way to think about it - how many computers will be attached to the session? That is how many seats are being used.

After that, we are charged for overage fees.

Discussion with Mike Driggers and PeopleNet

Underlying reason for PACOS:
Conversations between PNet and US Express
End Game:
- Reduced messaging
- Don't need to know everything from your driver
- Reduce information to only information what is needed from the Driver
You may think you want to know everything - but you really only want to know when things aren't happening as they should.

A need to specify a profile for a particular customer.  Create an Urgent Profile and a "regular" profile and a "special" profile.

PACOS can double-up messages very quickly

A Single Dispatch: Arrive Shipper, Picked up, Depart Shipper, Arrive Consignee, Arrived, Depart Consignee.

Messages will only be sent out during the

Assign Profile to Driver? to Customer? Based on the hotload.

Scaling down to a few hundred feet for the radius. (half mile is current limit)

Track PNET_Dispatch status - make sure Pnet_dispatch goes out before the driver receives the load.

Prefer to use DEFERRED Forms instead of urgent forms.
(less transactions)

Thoughts on improvements for Horizon

Just some ideas to toss out to see what people think:

1. Lookups for Customers. What if when a user enters a customer code, if the customer code is not found, we then do a search for the ALTERNATE customer #. If the customer is found using the Alternate customer #, the user is prompted and then that customer is selected. The benefit of this would be for customers who are moving from other systems and have decided to make use of the GEOCODED customer codes instead of their older codes.

2. Customizer. It would be REALLY useful if the Customizer could be run as a stand-alone application, prompting the user for which application set they want (Dispatch, Billing, etc) and then opening on its own. That way, we could make Customizer changes without having to go into each application.

What does anyone think about these?
